FESTIVAL OF CHOCOLATE

The smooth Festival of Chocolate was great fun this year, with people coming far and wide to test some of Sydney's most decadent desserts on September 10 & 11. 

WHERE IS EVERYTHING?

The smooth Festival of Chocolate had a larger footprint than ever with key festival features peppered all throughout. Key features include The Chocolatiers’ Quarters, The Callebaut Test Kitchen, The Bilpin Cider Co Garden Bar, The Lindt Lounge, The Darrell Lea Choc-Lea Chill Out, The smooth Star’s Stage and the Zumbo #dessertstagram photo booth, plus all of the exquisite exhibitors creating the most amazing desserts for you to indulge in! Saturday 10th September  - 10am – 8pm

With a delicious line up of amazing patisseries, ice creameries, chocolatiers and gelato makers the smooth Festival of Chocolate was all about indulging in decadent desserts and the latest creations.

WHAT WERE THE FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS?

The Lindt Lounge

You could customize your own Lindt Excellence Bar with your name ($8 each) or try one of the 3 new éclair flavours on offer ($6). Yummy deliciousness from the Lindt Master Chocolatier.

Location: Tallawoladah Place (Lawn in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art) 

The Callebaut Test Kitchen proudly designed and built by Knebel Kitchens – with cooking demonstrations from skilled chocolatiers and pastry chefs such as Gigi Falanga from Zumbo’s Just Desserts, Anna Polyviou from The Shangri-La Hotel Sydney, Jean Michel Raynaud from La Renaissance Patisserie, Frank Guilisano from Dolcettini, Christopher Thé from Black Star Pastry and Carlos Heng from Mak Mak Macarons and MADE Sydney. The Callebaut Test Kitchen Stage is the tastiest Test Kitchen where the audience gets to try the food!

The Bilpin Cider Garden Bar – relax by the harbour, cider in hand in this rustic style bar

Location: Tallawoladah Place (Lawn in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art) 

The Chocolatiers’ Quarters – home to bean to bar and artisan chocolatiers. Features the huge talents of highly acclaimed Pastry Chef Dean Gibson creating his festival showpieces constructed out of chocolate – Pumpkin Head Scare-Crow, Artist James Patrick and Baked By Joanne demonstrating her cake decorating skills.

Location: Cargo Hall, Overseas Passenger Terminal

The smooth Star’s Stage – meet your favourite smoothfm announcers or just pose with your friends, take a snap and receive a free souvenir photo when you upload to Instagram.

Location: Atherden Street

Darrell Lea Choc Lea Chill Out – Experience fun, colour and sample delicious Darrell Lea product

Location: Cargo Hall, Overseas Passenger Terminal

Zumbo Just Desserts #dessertstagram photo booth

Photos with giant cupcakes? Yes please! Snap, hashtag with #MyJustDesserts and our fav photo of the day wins a prize!

Location: First Fleet Park just next to Zumbo Patisserie

HOW TO GET THERE?

Public transport proved to be the best way to get in and out of the festival.

Circular Quay train station and Ferry stopped right at the festival’s doorstop while buses also went to George Street or Circular Quay Station.

Those who decided to drive, found it easier to pre-book their parking or research parking options around The Rocks area.
