Reddit user is going viral after his friends ask guests to pay for their own food at their wedding.
The internet is a great place for wedding inspo, but it’s great for a good #weddingfail.
Reddit user bootsmegamix posted the INSANE request after he received an invite for his friend’s wedding:
"How many of you have paid for your meal at a wedding? My gf and I are expected to pay $80-100 each for our meals at an upcoming wedding, the bride says its an "unspoken tradition""
LOL “unspoken tradition” - nice try guys!
Look we get it weddings are expensive, but seriously you can’t be asking your friends to cover the cost! And if you MUST, then at least be up front about it.
Reddit users pretty much agreed the request was totally outrageous. One user wrote “Hell no. You feed me, I give you a bread maker”.
Even the experts weighed in:
“I am actually a caterer. I have catered weddings for almost 20 years, literally hundreds if not thousands of weddings. I have never heard of this being done even once.”
“Wedding DJ here. Same. Never seen this. Not only are they full of shit but they are lying right to your face. Pass.”
The poster took the advice and decided to skip the extra cost:
"Thanks guys! We're just gonna get a gift and leave it at that. If we have to pay for a meal, I'm sure there's a McDonald's nearby."
Seriously though, if you can’t afford to have the wedding you want you just have to man-up and cut costs!
It might not be ideal, but being an adult never is!
