Damien Heads - Woodland Kitchen & Bar

By Kathrine Holland June 4, 2017
Damien Heads

Chef, consultant, foodie and father, Damian Heads owner of Woodland Kitchen & Bar is joining the Callebaut Test Kitchen at the smooth Festival of Chocolate in The Rocks.

Damien first started his career in the kitchens at Brisbane Hilton, packing up and heading to Europe the moment he completed his apprenticeship.

Once back in Sydney, he worked at the prestigious Bennelong Restaurant at the Sydney Opera House, followed by Milson’s before being awarded the prestigious Josephine Pignolet Award for Best Young Chef, Sydney Australia.

In 2003, he opened the very popular Garfish, before embarking on yet another quest for knowledge in Europe working alongside Heston Blumenthal at “The Fat Duck”, with Jamie Oliver at “fifteen” and with Peter Gordon at “The Providores. Having spent 8 years on Ready, Steady Cook he also found time to launch and worked as the Group executive Chef at the hugely successful Pony Lounge and Dining in The Rocks, later opening Pony Neutral Bay and Pony Brisbane.

Craving a quieter life and more family time, Damien opened “Woodland Kitchen” in Neutral Bay with his wife Jenni, located on 19 Grosvenor Street you will find them there most days of the week however on Saturday 12 August at 4pm you’ll find him at the smooth Festival of Chocolate in The Rocks on the Callebaut Test Kitchen stage demonstrating his Callebaut chocolate tart, salted caramel, double cream, honeycomb.
