Kate Middleton uses this little trick to ensure she takes a royal-worthy snap every time.

Wardrobe, hair, make-up, and lighting all play a role in making the perfect picture.

However, Royal etiquette expert Myka Meier revealed that Kate strikes a particular pose in every photo because it makes her legs look longer. Speaking to People, Meier explained Kate’s signature pose is called the “Duchess slant” and involves sitting with her knees and ankles together and her legs leaning to one side.

How does this produce the perfect photo?

Well, Meier says

“Your legs are angled so that the camera only shoots the sides of your legs,” which has a “lengthening effect on your on the legs.”

The etiquette expert also advised your hands should be folded and placed in your lap and that you should only cross your ankles “if needed”.

While the pose is named after Kate, she isn’t the first royal who used the trick. Princess Diana struck the same pose when seated on the bench outside the Taj Mahal in 1992.

Be right back, practicing our “Duchess slant”.
