Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to Canada, it feels like the drama surrounding their “stepping back” from royal duties has died down.
But the Queen ain’t backing down because she has reportedly banned Harry and Meghan from using the ‘Sussex Royal’ brand because they “simply cannot sell themselves as royals.” Which totally sounds like a thing the Queen would say.
The news comes thanks to the Daily Mail who reports that the Queen and her senior officials agreed that Harry and Megs are no longer permitted to keep the word “royal” in their self-titles and branding. This will pose a potential issue for Harry and Meghan who have reportedly spent lots of dollars on a new Sussex Royal website to complete their Instagram account of the same name.
Prince Harry and Meghan have also apparently sought to register Sussex Royal as a global trademark for a range of items and activities, including clothing, stationary and books. Which feels a bit on the nose tbh.
The question is: if Harry and Meghan need to re-brand, what will their new name be? Can we just call them Haz and Megz now? We think the ‘z’s add a real millennial touch.
