Chrissy Teigen Reveals The Food That Got Her Through Postpartum Depression

2 min read

Chrissy Teigen – AKA Sass Queen, Most Relatable Celebrity and Goddess of Great Genes – has explained how a certain food helped her through postpartum depression.  It started with OB/GYN Jennifer Gunter posted a tweet sassing the ‘health food’ (read: gross food) that is bone broth.
“It is such an amazing scam to rename stock as ‘bone broth,’ claim miraculous health benefits, and sell it for a small fortune.”
Teigen quickly defended bone broth in a lengthy response, crediting the liquid for improving her “suffering”:
“If some stupid thing I buy makes *me* not want to jump off a building that day, I considered that a win.”
She does however admit that “most broths suck and are capitalising on the trend”.  The mother-of-two added that the antidepressant Lexapro helped her mentally, but the bone broth helped her heal physically. Bone broth is made from the bones of chickens or cows and is cooked for an extended period of time to pull more nutrients from the bones. Whereas stock is usually made with more meat (not bone) and is cooked for a shorter period of time. Gwyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek, Elle Macpherson and Kobe Bryant also endorse drinking bone broth with Bryant being reported saying:
“I’ve been doing the bone broth for a while now…It’s great – good for energy and reducing inflammation.”
If it’s good enough for Kobe and Chrissy, then it’s good enough for us. Image: Instagram
