US television network ABC have announced their newest Bachelor, retired NFL player Colton Underwood.

The 26-year-old will be the US’s 23rd (!) Bachelor, and is best known for uh, being a virgin. Unusual, but not unheard of - so why the drama?

US Bach fans are HATING the casting choice because apparently Colton talks about being a virgin ALL THE TIME, making his choice seem more like a calculated ratings strategy.

Plus, he’s already been on two Bach shows - US Bachelorette and Bachelor In Paradise, and was apparently pretty forgettable:

An ABC source defended the casting choice, telling E!:

“Colton was by far the safest pick. He’s a virgin and he works in non-profit. He screams wholesome, middle America”.

Colton told Good Morning America that he's "ready to settle down" and is "looking forward to being engaged and getting married shortly after that".

“One thing I took pride in on both seasons was being true to who I am. It took all of that to get to where I’m at now and know who I am as a person and know what I want in a life partner.

“…What I’m looking forward to the most, is being engaged and getting married shortly after that.”

Looking forward to the red carpet reactions to this choice!
