Poor Lisa!

Lisa Wilkinson has a pretty tough gig when it comes to waking up at 3 am to get to work on time.

All she wanted was a nice break overseas, relaxing and waking up at an appropriate time.

Well, turns out the universe didn’t want that for her.

The Today Show host announced that she had a nasty accident which has caused her to cut her luxurious and will-deserved break in Italy.

She uploaded an Instagram to tell her 209k followers about the fall.

“And so ends my beautiful Italian holiday with two badly broken bones after a shocking fall on a wet bathroom floor.

“For all the ouchy hurty details see my column at @huffpostau or on my twitter feed.”

The Editor-at-large of HuffPost Australia wrote a piece about the accident.

“I knew the floor was slippery, but the moment of falling seemed to take forever.

"My mind went in slo-mo -- even though my body was in fast-forward -- as I calculated just how bad the fall was going to be.

"I was right. Very bad.”

She had snapped her forearm in two places.

Wilkinson also talks about the medical system in Italy.

“In Italy, public hospitals are free for everyone, including blow-in tourists like us.”

The 57-year-old journalist said trying to move her husband from his ‘current book writing position’ was going to be challenging.

Wilkinson uploaded the most recent picture a couple hours ago where she told her fans that she needed to get home for surgery.

She didn’t even get enough time to swim in the pool.

“Arrivederci #ltaly...you were fabulous (except for that whole falling over on the slippery wet marble floor thing).

“Bye-bye pool I never got to swim in. Bye-bye warm weather…

“Next stop: Sydney and my date with the surgeon's knife. Fun times!!

It must have been a serious fall.

We hope she gets better soon and can return to Italy and actually get to swim in that amazing pool.
