Meghan Markle has been banned from wearing this around The Queen

When you become a Duchess, certain fashion items go straight into the bin.

Meghan Markle has given up many behaviours to align herself with the royals, namely being an actor, signing autographs - even eating garlic and shellfish in the presence of The Queen.

Now The Queen - an indisputed fashion icon in her own right - won’t let Meghan wear wedged shoes.

A source told Vanity Fair:

“The Queen isn’t a fan of wedged shoes. She really doesn’t like them and it’s well-known among the women in the family.”

Despite this ‘well-known’ rule - Duchess Kate has been seen rocking wedges on more than one occasion - safely away from Her Royal Highness’s critical eye, of course.

British designer Caroline Castigliano told the New York Post that Meghan’s shift from fierce glamour to demure duchess would be tricky:

“The royal family is a firm and the protocol is huge.

“We’re seeing everything about Meghan change. It’s very difficult when you’re 36 to do this — it’s far easier when you’re in your early 20s and they can mould and adapt you. It’s a much bigger job for Meghan. It must be unbelievably difficult that Meghan was a working woman and had her own style.”
