Ali Oetjen’s dream run on The Bachelorette was tarnished by a nasty, and graphic, cheating rumour courtesy of her ex Grant Kemp.

Ali met Grant on Bachelor In Paradise - and denies the allegations she cheated while visiting him in Los Angeles.

The 32-year-old told TV WEEK she was “gutted” when the rumour hit the internet - and didn’t bother defending herself.

"There's no point in saying I'm a good person, because everyone is going to have their own opinion [of me].

"But I can only be true to myself.”

When the men inside the Bachelorette mansion heard about the rumour - Ali said it actually helped her see their true colours:

“Everyone has a past, and I was judging the guys [in the mansion] on how they were at that moment, and that's how they acted with me. They were all really beautiful and realised who I was as a person that way.

"I've been heartbroken twice, and I'm only going to do what's right for me – and that's to find my life partner."

Ali said her past heartbreak has made her “more logical and realistic” about what she expects from a future partner.

“[My relationship with Grant] made me think twice about the future and realise that I can't trust everyone.

“I don't regret Paradise, because it was beautiful, but it's a different world once you get out."

Grant’s real life turned out to be quite different to what he’d described to Ali, who told TV WEEK it was “confronting” when she arrived in Los Angeles and discovered the truth.

“I went to Los Angeles and he wasn't who he described himself to be, nor did he live the lifestyle he said he did.”

She told NW this week that the weeks following Grant’s allegations were “the darkest periods of my life”:

“We all have those exes that don't go away.

“Without a doubt, Grant was a waste of my time. He just wasn't the person he said he was. And yes, it was disappointing and crushing, but I learnt from this.”
