Jacinda Ardern Baked A Women’s Weekly Cake For Her Baby’s First Bday

Because we needed to love her even more.

Kid’s birthday’s are the best. There’s fairy bread and chips and cheap sausage rolls that taste like heaven wrapped in greasy pastry.

There’s also cake which is almost always a homemade slightly warped looking animal made with love by mum.

The best cakes are those which came from the pages of the Women’s Weekly Kids’ Party Cakes book. Anything we can dream of- a tiger, a princess, a tennis court- is in the pages of that book.

But only the best, only the really worthy mums, can attempt a Women’s Weekly cake and succeed.

One of those legendary mothers is Jacinda Ardern.

She delved into the pages of the iconic cook book to bake a bunny cake for her little Bub’s first birthday.

“Doing what so many parents have done before me,” Jacinda shared on Instagram. “Waited till baby was up in bed before trying to magic up a passable cake for the big first birthday.”

And she bloody did it too.

“I may be smiling but about an hour earlier I was not enjoying the first birthday cake making experience (like just about every parent I know!),” she wrote.

“I recommend cakes that you can legitimately cover in coconut – it hides almost everything. Happy Birthday wee Neve!”

We present Jacinda Ardern: Prime Minister of New Zealand, inspiring female leader, cake baking legend and honorary Aussie hero.
