Kenneth Cole is getting slammed for his 'truly disgusting' comments about Kate Spade

Friends, family and fans of Kate Spade shared tributes to the late designer after news broke on Wednesday morning that she had tragically died at the age of 55. 

Among those sharing tributes was Kenneth Cole, who couldn't have been more tone-deaf if he'd tried. In a since-deleted tweet, the designer wrote:

“‘I believed that I could, so I did’. She alone didn’t change the handbag world but she was an inspiring accessory. #KateSpade #RIP.”

As you can imagine, the Internet was unimpressed with the comments and quickly called him out for his terribly insensitive choice of words.

Cole then shared a new tweet which he had put slightly more thought into:

However, that didn't improve the situation as people continued to slam him:

Kate was found dead in her New York apartment and NYPD are reporting a note was left. The designer's family released a statement to the New York Daily News:

“We are all devastated by today’s tragedy. We would ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very difficult time.”
