"I thought it best to wait as long as possible."

Now that Married At First Sight's Troy and Carly have revealed their relationship on the show, they're flaunting their lurve all over Instagram (and it's kind of disgusting). The couple spoke to TheFix after debuting their relationship and explained why they didn't tell Troy's ex-'wife' about them being together until meeting up at the final dinner party.

Troy told Ashley that he loved her during the experiment so she was understandably shocked when she found out he was in a new relationship at the dinner party. Troy said:

“I knew Ash was going to need a lot of healing time. I thought it best to wait as long as possible before she did find out about me and Carly, so it was like a bandaid that had to be ripped off.

“It had to come off at the reunion. It was tough. Obviously there was some pain and some reaction and I thought that was the best way to do it. Not to antagonise her. To just get it over quickly.”

Carly added:

"Our intention was always to be low key and to be respectful of Ashley and Justin (Carly's 'ex-husband'), but we got a bit blindsided by a couple in the group who started to speak on behalf of Ashley without even knowing the situation. It sort of made it hard to have direct communication with Ashley."

The pair got together after catching up as friends after the vow renewals, it wasn't long before Troy put the moves on Carly, saying "it was nice not to be rejected for a change".

They also told the publication they're set to move in together by the end of the month with Troy relocating to Melbourne. Carly also joked that things would be different between the pair after watching Troy's relationship with Ashley unfold on-screen. Apparently, she's going to keep him away from mirrors and other reflective surfaces and would ban push-ups before breakfast.

Fans have taken to social media to slam the couple's cringeworthy displays of affection. And we totally agree.
