Paris Jackson ditches custom Alex Perry gown for bohemian look at Melbourne Cup

What do you think of the look?

Paris Jackson was one of the big stars invited to Australia for the Melbourne Cup this year as a guest of Myer, but things didn't go to plan for the department store when the star refused to wear the custom-made Alex Perry dress she had been given. The 19-year-old ditched the outfit for a bohemian rust-coloured Morrison dress, shocking both Perry and Myer.

The model and actress donned a headpiece by Ann Shoebridge and some desert boots, with sources close to Myer saying Jackson wasn't a fan of the dress created for her. Apparently, the star wanted to wear cowboy boots, but was told she needed to wear something dressier, so she opted for the desert boots as a compromise.

No doubt Myer was glad she did choose a designer that is stocked in their stores!

Speaking with The Daily Telegraph, Paris said she's had a very warm welcome to Australia:

"Extremely touched by how kind and welcoming everyone has been so far. I was greeted by four very sweet gentlemen outside my hotel who brought me Tim Tams, Vegemite, and a koala plushie."
