Here is another to add to your list to binge

Seriously, from Big Little Lies to The Handmaids Tale, we did not think anyone could top the level of television out right now.

But it looks like there's a new show in town ready to take all the Emmys.

Sharp Objects has begun on HBO and social media is obsessed.

Amy Adams has now been snubbed at the Oscars five times, but fingers crossed the Emmys see her worth for her phenomenal performance as emotionally tortured journalist Camille Preaker.

The show is based on Gone Girl author Gillian Lynn's first novel and also stars Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina and Australian actor Eliza Scanlen.

Sharp Objects followers Camille who heads back to her hometown in Missouri to cover a story of two girls killed in a theatrical way. Going home is not something Camille is ready to do as she is estranged from her mother and the town is the source of her alcohol abuse, self-harm and recent stay in an institution.

The comparisons to the other female led television show, Big Little Lies are uncanny. This is most likely because Sharp Objects is directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, who directed BLL.

Sharp Objects airs on Foxtel’s Showcase channel at 8.30pm Mondays.
