Rami Malek is seriously nailing his role as Freddie Mercury in the new Queen biopic!

While we initially had doubts that Rami Malek would be able to do Freddie Mercury justice in the new Queen movie, we are ready to take that all back now. New footage obtained by The Sun shows Malek filming a scene where Mercury performs at the infamous Live Aid charity concert in the summer of 1985.

Instead of performing to thousands of screaming fans, Malek performed to an empty audience in a giant stage built in the middle of a field somewhere.

For comparison, here's the actual performance:

It's pretty plain to see that Malek has really nailed Mercury's mannerisms!

The film chronicles Queen from 1970 until the Live Aid performance, which took place six years before Mercury died of complications from AIDS.

The first photo that was released of Malek as Mercury (above) appeared in Entertainment Weekly with the actor telling the publication that looking like the singer “only adds to the level of confidence that one would need to play Freddie Mercury."

In case you're wondering about Rami's voice, well the film will use both Rami, Freddie and a sound alike to fill in the singing gaps:

“We’re going to use Freddie as much as possible and use myself as much as possible... I’m in Abbey Road [Studios] right now if that should say anything to you. I’m not working on my acting.”
