There's no place like home...

Ask anyone what their favourite childhood movie is and there is no doubt ‘Wizard of Oz’ is on their list.

Well guess what?

Wizard of Oz is coming to Sydney and Melbourne.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s London Palladium production of The Wizard of Oz is going to Sydney from December 31 before it lands at the Regent Theatre in May 2018.

The musical will be based on the 1939 film, but with added songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber (Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar), this production (directed by Jeremy Sams) premiered at London's Palladium Theatre in 2011.

Time Out London described it as "a spectacle worthy of the Palladium's heyday.

Visually, this stage remake of MGM's 1939 special effects blockbuster is 'Over the Rainbow' and accelerating."

The musical will star Anthony Warlow (Fiddler on the Roof) as the Wizard, and a two of the Wicked alumni: Lucy Durack as Glinda the Good and Jemma Rix as the Wicked Witch of the West.

For her first leading role in a major musical, Samantha Dodemaide will play Dorothy.
