The Australian Ballet - Spartacus

By Lynette C November 9, 2018

Think ballet is all pointed shoes and tutus? Think again.

Set in the days of the Roman empires, Spartacus shares the story of a gladiator who led a slaves’ rebellion. The ballet takes the audiences through a journey of passionate love, mission and freedom, showcasing the company’s men at their spirited and athletic best.

Choreographed by Lucas Jervies, a former dancer of The Australian Ballet, the production will feature the soaring music of Aram Khacaturian and sets and costumes by Jerome Kaplan, who created the inventive designs for Alexei Ratmansky’s Cinderella.

Spartacus is playing at the Sydney Opera House, November 9 to 24.
