Messages have been flooding into the smooth Festival of Chocolate in The Rocks team asking if there will be any vegan, gluten free, nut free or dairy free options at the festival and because at smooth we believe that EVERYONE has the right to delicious desserts and this year we worked hard to bring you the best line up ever!

On offer is an incredible selection of ice cream sandwiches, artesian dark chocolates, brownies, doughnuts (yes we said doughnuts!!) and even popsicles. There’s everything your heart (and belly) could possibly desire.

You asked for it..you got it...here's a taster..

PureMelt Byron Bay 

When we heard about award winning Mullumbimby Chocolatier Sarah Wheeler we knew we just had to her have at our festival! Driving over 1000 kilometres to bring her 100% organic delicious, raw, vegan and gluten free chocolate menu to the Chocolatiers' Quarters, PureMelt is the true taste of artisan chocolate without refined sugar, made with skill, passion and love. From Gluten Free Fudge to a delectable range of vegan and gluten free chocolate bars, there's a wide handmade collection on offer.

Our pick: We're dying to get our hands on the gluten free brownies!!

Donut Papi 

Donut Papi have become Instagram famous for their range of filled donuts and crinkles filled with creative flavours that send Sydney's food bloggers cray-cray. Fantastically they are offering a range of Gluten Free crinkles creatively filled with flavours Matcha, Birthday Cake (yum!), Coffee, Nutella and Peanut Butter that are so picturesque you'll want to take million snaps before you shove them in your belly!

Nutie Dessert Bar 

The super creative team behind Nutie Donuts Balmain have upped the ante to create their hottest festival menu yet. The stars of the show include: Fudge Yeah! A triple chocolate vegan, gluten free brownie, served with vanilla ice cream. An amazing range of Vegan and Gluten Free Ice Cream Sandwiches and of course their signature range of donuts that are so pretty you just have to take a picture before scoffing them whole

Our pick: The “Couch Potato” Ice Cream sandwich made up of Caramel Vegan Ice Cream, sandwiched between 2 x double choc cookies with Potato Chip Clusters!!! Yes we said Potato Chip Clusters!!! The combination of salty, sweet and crunchiness is amazing!

Zeppoli Italian Donuts 

Like a dream come true for the gluten-intolerant, Zeppoli will be serving up a selection of pillowy soft-Italian donuts in a variety of irresistible flavours like hot Jam centre with vanilla sugar, Vinocotto Syrup with orange sugar, Choc & Nutella sauce with roasted hazlenuts, Salted Caramel Sauce with Caramel Popcorn. (Gluten Free and Vegan options will be available)

The vegan popsicle queen returns once again to smooth Festival in the Rocks, bringing with her a range of flavoursome and wholesome goodies. We can vouched for the tastiness...last year we tucked with glee into her goodies! Serving up Popsicles like ‘The Caramelo Mini Vegan’, ‘The Golden Rawtime Mini’ and ‘Ferrero Mini Choc’ , Angela is also bringing her best seller – the Salted Caramel Macadamia “Cheesecake”, which is sure to be a sell-out!

Little Zebra Chocolates and Little Zebra Food Co - A totall nut free factory!

Yep that’s right, appearing at this year’s festival, Little Zebra Chocolates and Little Zebra Food Co will be showcasing their selection of treats that are also free from Palm Oil. Last week we had the please of indulging in the range..and the vegans in the office gave them a MASSIVE thumbs up. From classic dark to varieties inflused with spices, lime, coconut and even espresso and their new range of Carob Buds that will be taking you back to those tuck shop memories you'll fall in love with this quirky team of chocolatiers.

Vegans and those with nut, gluten and dairy allergies will also be able to indulge to their hearts content, sampling sugar, dairy and soy free dark chocolates in a huge range of delectable flavours.

Little Zebra Chocolates


Zumbo Ski Lodge

Make like a Ski Bunny and head to the Zumbo Ski Lodge where for the first time, the master of desserts himself is bringing you the most delicious line up of gluten free indulgences. Try:

Hot Blooded...Blood Orange Jelly, Flourless Chocolate Sponge, Citrus Chocolate Cremeux, Whipped Ganache and Chocolate Struesel. Served in a milk chocolate with hot chocolate sauce.

Or for melt in your mouth richness..the Hot Chocolate Fondant Cake with a chocolate soft centre, caramalised white chocolate soft serve, passionfruit sauce and cocoa-almond streusel.

Gluten free (maybe not guilt free) but definitely DELISH!

Choc Full (see what we did there?) of gluten free and vegan options from the likes of Redhouse Chocolates (All Gluten Free) Pure Melt Byron Bay (Organic, GF and Vegan options), Cacaoette (Gluten Free bounty of choccies!), Chocolate 5018 and Jeff De Bruge, the Chocolatiers Quarters is a truly wonderland location for all those looking for a guilt free experience of indulgence.

Do you need any more convincing? We didn’t think so! So come join us at this year’s smooth festival of chocolate at The Chocolatiers’ Quarters in Cargo Hall located at Overseas Passenger Terminal.

Annie Makes Cakes

She sure does..they are the prettiest things you've ever seen and also come in a range of gluten free options. Choose from Rose & Lychee, Strawberry Cream and Pistachio, Dark Chocolate and Hazlenut Crunch Mousse and Pina Colada. These works of art are such a pleasure to eat with delecate flavours that dance on the tastebuds.

Our pic? We're a chocolate festival so we should really say the Mousse BUT....the Rose & Lychee sounds like the perfect way to ring in the Spring!

This newcomer to the festival absolutely wowed us when she sent the pictures of her menu through. Gluten free creations such Brandy Triple Choc Flourless Cake, Chocolate and Vanilla Vegan and Gluten Free cakes and  Orange, Almond, Brandy Cupcakes with Cream Cheese frosting (GF) her range caters for both the junior and grown up gluten free dessert lover!

Fantastically, FoodByUs are bringing 2 exhibitors to the festival that offer Vegan options (Birgitta's Vegan Beetroot Brownies, Choc Hazlenut Gluten Free Brownies whilst FoodbyUs' 2nd offer Le Macaron Boutique features an all-gluten free macaron menu in tasty flavours like Turkish Delight and Vanilla Bean + Strawberry
