Mr Joyce, who is 27 years older than Ms Campion, revealed late last year he'd split with his wife of 24 years, Natalie Joyce. Friends of the politician have told the publication that he is "madly in love", however, the pair is yet to speak publicly about their relationship.

Speaking with The Weekend Australian Magazine with his wife last year, Mr Joyce revealed how he barely spent any time at home with his family since getting into politics. In February and March last year, he only had two nights where he slept in his own bed.

He described the "guilt" he felt for never being there for his daughters:

“I hate it... In the end they give up on you. They just don’t think you’re going to be there.”

Mr Joyce's family was noticeably absent during events last year.
