Heartbreaking news.

Home and Away star Jessica Falkholt has had her life support switched off and remains in a critical condition following the horrific car accident that killed her parents Lars and Vivian Falkholt, and her sister Annabelle.

News Limited outlets reported that the Summer Bay star's life support was switched off on Thursday night, more than a fortnight after the horror crash.

The tragic conclusion to the horror story comes after friends and family refused to give up hope for her recovery.

Close friends to the actress stayed by her bedside at St George Hospital in Sydney on Wednesday as the 28-year-old's father Lars, 69, mother Vivian, 60, and sister Annabelle, 21, were all farewelled in a joint service in front of hundreds of mourners.

As Jessica fought for life in the Intensive Care Unit at St George Hospital, her family had been by her side and it is being reported she was surrounded by her loved ones when the decision was made to switch off the life support.

The other driver was Craig Anthony Whitall, a serial driving offender, who was also killed in the smash. It's believed he was driving home from the methadone clinic with an investigation taking place on whether he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.
