Aussie Man Wins Lotto Twice And We Officially Feel Poor

How dare he.

There’s two types of luck in the world:

The kind of luck where you find random money on the ground/don’t step in dog poo/find a four leaf clover/get a free coffee.

Then there’s the kind of luck where you win the lotto.

Well, one Aussie man has got himself a big steaming pile of the second kind, ‘cause he won the lotto TWICE.

The Melbourne local is now $46.6million richer after he accidentally bought two tickets for the same lotto draw.

$46.6 MILLION DOLLARS. That’s a casual $23.3 million per ticket. Just like that.

Yep.

I know.

Not fair, how dare he, the world sucks etc etc.

When lottery staff called the man to tell him the good news he couldn’t believe it.

“You’re kidding!” he reportedly said. “'Am I seeing things? I just checked my entry online and I think I know what you're about to tell me.”

We’d be pretty shocked if we magically came into millions of dollars too. We’d actually probably convince ourselves it was some cruel joke and carry on as usual.

But seeing as it WASN’T us who just won the lotto we’ll save ourselves the pain and stop speculating.

The best (worst) part? It really did come down to sheer luck; the man said he had been playing the same numbers for thirty years.

“I play every week. I have always marked my entries but I have never chosen the numbers on anything in particular. They weren't special before, but they are now,” he said.

The winning numbers were 12, 28, 24, 29, 9, 18 and 25. The supplementary numbers are 13 and 31.

Matt Hart, a spokesman for lottery organisers The Lott, described the outcome as “remarkable”.

“What's remarkable about tonight's draw is that there were three division one entries, but two winners,” he said.

The man got two-thirds of the $70 million Oz Lotto Jackpot, while a winner in Hobart claimed the remaining $23.3 million.

Talk about being lucky.

We’d say this guy should go buy a lottery ticket except he already did that…
