A definitive ranking of Sydney’s best happy hours

By Stephanie Nuzzo November 28, 2016

Because drinks always taste better when they’re cheap

It’s the season for celebrations and clinking glasses of champagne, but all those boozy nights can get a little exy. In the name of research and good cocktails, we hunted down the best available happy hour specials across Sydney (and may or may not have tried them all).

El Camino Cantina

El Camino Cantina’s Margaritas are not only legendary but they’re half price, at just $7.50 from Monday to Friday between 5-7pm. Add that to $5 craft beers by Urban Craft Brewing Co, a complimentary queso dip and free chips and salsa all day, every day, and you’ve found yourself your new favourite Mexicana hangout.

Visit elcaminocantina.com.au for bookings and more details.

The Argyle

Pull up a stool at the high-topped tables in The Argyle’s gorgeous cobblestone courtyard every summer week night between 5-7pm and enjoy $5 house beer, wine and spirits. The Argyle kicks off the weekend early too, with an epic $10 cocktail menu every Thursday from 7pm. Enjoy classics like the espresso martini and long island iced tea, or try something new like the tigerlilly or apple crumble cocktail.

Fratelli Fresh

Say "salute" at Fratelli Fresh during its aperitivo hour every day between 3-6pm. Enjoy $5 house wine and craft beers by Urban Craft Brewing Co, half price Negronis at $7.50 and $10 spritzers. Pair your drinks with $15 pizzas, hand-stretched and carefully topped by in-house pizza chefs.

Saké Jr

A spin-off of the iconic Saké Restaurant & Bar, Saké Jr offers built-to-order bowls packed with Asian flavours – a steal at $10 every day between 4-7pm, paired with a craft beer. Grab a seat, build your bowl and wash it down with an ice-cold blushing geisha or Hattori hit Girl craft beer – it’s how every evening should begin.

The Bavarian, Bavarian Bier Café, Munich Brauhaus

Hit up the 555 Happy Hour between 4-6pm every day*, with $5 craft beers, house wines, spirits, and cocktail of the month. Get into the swing of summer at one of the venues’ outdoor tables and order the sauciest, finger-licking $1 chicken wings around.
