This makes a lot of sense!

Having children is stressful, period. But if you're trying to figure out how many kids you want to have, you might be interested to know that the least stressful number is four, while the most stressful is three.

Seven thousand mothers were surveyed by to find out how many kids is the most stressful, and mummy blogger Jill Smokler told the Today that she totally agrees:

“Going from one to two was an easy, breezy transition... Two to three, everything was turned upside down. I do not feel like I have it together. You only have two hands! Just crossing the street and not being able to physically hold all their hands I find tremendously stressful.”

As for why four might be the least stressful number, there is speculation that it's because you've given up the idea of everything being perfect and it's a huge weight off your shoulders.

Dr Janet Taylor, a psychiatrist and mum-of-four added:

“The more children you have, the more confident you become in your parenting abilities... You have to let go… and then you’re just thankful when they all get to school on time.”

Oh, and if you're wondering whether boys or girls are more stressful, apparently, 60 per cent of mums agreed that raising girls is more stressful than raising boys.

And it gets a little worse with 72 per cent of mothers stressing out about how stressed they are. Wow, and we thought choosing a name was hard!
