Hundreds of passengers have been impacted.

Friday morning kicked off with a pretty major glitch at Sydney Airport, with reports a "technical issue" has caused a hold up near the security and check-in areas of the hub.

The airport took to social media this morning to warn passengers of the delays resulting from the problem, explaining that there have been interruptions to services at Terminals one and two.

According to reports from Fairfax, the delays were caused by a power outage on site. The publisher quotes a passenger, Jennifer Olding, who had been stuck at the airport from 4am onwards:

“They announced that they had a power outage and so no one could go through border security,” she said.

The problem has caused delays to both flights arriving into and departing from the major airport.

According to recent updates, the technical glitch has been resolved, however, due to a major backlog of passengers, delays are expected to continue for a while yet.
