Severe weather warning issued for Melbourne

"There's potential for damage..."

The Buereau of Meterology has warned of 'wild winds and destructive conditions' returning to Melbourne today, with winds of almost 100km/h already charting this morning.

The BoM says we can expect winds to strengthen, with a cold front moving over Victoria later today likely to bring strong gusts to southern and central areas in Victoria.

BoM senior forecaster Scott Williams told a Melbourne radio show, 'there's potential for damage, but probably not on the scale we saw a fortnight back'.

Stay safe, secure anything that might be prone to blowing away, and call emergency services if you need help in an emergency.
