GOING OUT

Heads up Sydney, The Grounds has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland

Think falling snow, Christmas trees, fairy lights and fresh flower walls

Sydney’s most instagrammable location is embracing the festive season with a Christmas-themed makeover.

The Grounds of Alexandria has transformed its laneways into pure magic with fairy lights falling from the heavens, cascades of fresh flowers, giant toy soldiers and snow covered Christmas trees.

The Grounds has collaborated with Disney to bring the magical world of the Nutcracker and The Four Realms to life.

Start with journey through The Land of Snowflakes.

Explore a winter wonderland complete with twinkling lights and wintery Christmas trees.

Make sure you listen for the chime of Drosselmeyer’s* Grandfather clock– it will signal the fall of fresh snow three times a day at 10am, 12pm and 2pm.

Pure magic.

Next comes the Land of the Sweets and yes it’s as pink and sugary and fun as it sounds.

The domain of the Sugar Plum Fairy (no relation to the Tooth Fairy), this realm is all giant candy canes and pink tulle and picture perfect.

The Land of the Flowers is just as dreamy.

With colourful cascades of fresh flowers and lights at every turn you’ll want to move right in.

But the immersive experience is more than just a photo-op. There is also a selection of yummy Nutcracker inspired treats on offer in all of The Ground’s dining venues.

They’re all sweet and colourful and decorated with flowers and look (almost) too pretty to eat.

Our personal fave? The Land of Flowers Pink Pavlova.

Just LOOK at it:

It’s a soft cooked rose water meringue topped with mascarpone, jasmine & pistachio cream, mango confit (sounds schmancy), fresh mango, raspberries & Turkish delight jelly aaaaannd YUM.

We’ll have 20.

For the traditionalists (aka the boring people) Drosselmeyer's Scroll sounds pretty damn good too.

It’s a blueberry sponge cake roll with blackcurrant, blueberry & violet confit (also schmancy), with vanilla buttercream and edible flowers.

We’ll have 20 of these too thanks.

If you really want to go hardcore then order yourself a Sugar Plum Soda as well.

Looking at the pics we’re pretty sure they’re made of pure sugar and spice and we’re not even mad.

This festive experience is open from today Thursday November 15 and runs through until Christmas Eve.

So get your cameras, some sparkles and prepare for a whimsical time.

This seasons forecast: snowy with a chance of magic.

*Drosselmeyer = magical old man in the movie that makes cool magical things happen.
