Max Brenner has officially gone into voluntary administration

Your favourite chocolate man (second only to Willy Wonka) has gone into voluntary administration.

Max Brenner has blamed hefty costs and poor sales for its fall from chocolate heaven. 

Over the weekend, McGrathNicol was appointed administrator and is in charge of deciding whether to sell the business or recapitalise it (AKA flog them with cash).

The nature of Max Brenner’s debt remains unknown. 

McGrathNicol administrators Barry Kogan, Kathy Sozou and Jason Preston told Fairfax Media it was too soon to reveal the specifics. 

In the meantime, Max Brenner’s 38 national stores will stay open to fulfil all of our Belgian waffle and Chocolate Lick dreams.
