Connie Johnson passed away on Friday after a long battle with breast and liver cancer.

Samuel Johnson has taken to Facebook to share an open invitation to mourners who wish to attend sister Connie's funeral. Sam confirmed Connie's passing on Friday, he wrote:

"We lost Connie today. Or, as she asked me to say, she died of cancer today. It was so beautiful. We laughed, we cried, we sang stupid songs from our childhood to her, which she loved (mostly!). I read her so many village messages, which she relished.

"She went so richly, and with such grace. Trust me, she was genuinely cushioned by your love, till the end."

Taking to Facebook overnight he shared a photo of himself in a cathedral, writing:

"Connie Cottonsock's village service will be in Melbourne on the 23rd. Just wanted to give a heads up to any interstate villagers planning to attend. xsam."

One user commented on the post saying, "Think you're gonna need some more cathedrals...i know so many people will attend and those who cant will be there in spirit." Sam responded, saying the funeral will be live streamed for those who cannot be there.

He also added that the service will be "fun" and that people can wear whatever they were comfortable in and in their preferred colours, saying Connie loved France "so French colours would work too."

Others said Connie should have had a state funeral to honour her efforts, while someone else said, "Will be there with bells on! I'm seriously going to bring bells, and ring them loud so that everyone will be able to hear the village and feel the love!"

Our thoughts are with Connie's friends and family during this difficult time.
