A little about Mel…
Mel is a News Presenter who hosts Channel Seven Sydney’s 6pm news bulletin on Fridays and Saturdays, in addition to hosting and reporting duties for Seven’s flagship public affairs program Sunday Night.
She joined the Seven Network in 1995 and built a loyal following as co-host of Seven’s Sunrise for 14 years and hosted landmark televisions specials such as TV Turns 50, Reach out to Asia Tsunami Appeal and Where Are They Now?
She has interviewed some of the biggest names in entertainment including Katy Perry and Stevie Nicks. She has covered key events including the Sydney, Athens and Beijing Olympic Games, The Academy Awards and was the first journalist to interview Tom Cruise following the birth of Suri.
Melissa has also released her book ‘Alphabet Soup’ and co-authored ‘The Working Mothers Survival Guide’ in 2007.
She is an Ambassador for The Alannah & Madeline Foundation, Westmead’s Children’s Hospital, World Vision, Children’s Cancer Institute and the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Melissa is married to John and the very proud mother of Nicholas and Talia.
In the 2016 Australia Day Honours List, Melissa was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her “significant service to the community through representational roles with a range of charitable groups, and to the broadcast media.”
