If you’ve been on the internet at all this weekend, you’ll have seen this photo:

“AUSTRALIA’S BEST WEDDING” shut down half of Sydney

This is Auburn’s deputy mayor, Salim Mehajer.

He got married on the weekend, branding his own wedding “AUSTRALIA’S BEST WEDDING”.

The celebrations begun when Salim arrived in a local park by helicopter with his groomsmen - stepping out onto a red carpet, greeted by cameras.

Then, he and his entourage stepped into cars totally a whopping $50 million to Lidcombe, where the bride awaited.

This operation on its own was enough to shut down have of Lidcombe.

Only the night before, residents received a note in their letter boxes demanding them to clear the street of their cars.

The ”Important Notice Attention Frances Street Residence" read that any cars left parked on the street would be "towed and removed by police."

Responding to the media, police said they had no official involvement in the wedding.

Other frivolities included a jet flying over the ceremony, a plane towing a sign announcing the wedding with a love heart, heavy security and TV cameras.

Suburb residents are clearly peeved.

"I wish him every happiness in his marriage but this is not the way to make friends with your neighbours," one woman told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Mehajer was waiting for his dad to get out of jail before going ahead with the ceremony.

He himself is no stranger to run-ins with the law.

In 2012, he was charged with negligent driving after hitting two pedestrians -with his Ferrari.

If you’re going to watch anything today, watch the “pre-wedding” video he put together… And note, he doesn’t care what you think -

"To all the haters," he said on social media on Saturday. "Keep hating. I work hard. 100% legit."
