Dolly Parton’s Musical Is About To Smash Into Sydney

By Isabella Bull January 9, 2020

We’ll be at this… from 9 to 5.

It’s been Oscar, Grammy and Tony nominated… so it’s fair to say Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 The Musical is pretty damn good.

The Australian premiere of the spectacular show is exclusive to Sydney, and is expected to attract over 27,000 visitors when it premieres in April.

NSW Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres said the musical is a major win for the state.

“Securing this incredible production further bolsters our State’s stellar line-up of world-class events and reinforces our reputation as Australia’s cultural capital."

9 to 5 The Musical tells the story of Doralee, Violet and Judy, three workmates pushed to boiling point by their egotistical, sexist boss. Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, will the ladies manage to reform their office - or will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit?

The show has been a run-away success on the West End, and comes direct from London - where it’s surpassed all expectations, and been extended multiple times.

9 to 5 The Musical is brought to Sydney by the queen of country herself, and is inspired by the hit film.

The Australian cast stars Caroline O’Connor, Marina Prior, Samantha Dodemaide and Erin Clare, and features a book by the iconic movie’s original screenwriter, Patricia Resnick.

Put on your dancing shoes and get ready folks.
