HAIR The Musical Returns To Australia

By Brynn Davies May 10, 2019

Starring Hugh Sheridan and Paulini.

It’s been 50 years since HAIR first hit Australian stages in all its barefoot, long-haired glory.

The ‘60s counter-culture musical was produced by late Harry M. Miller, and consistently sold out Sydney’s Metro Theatre during its two-year run.

Now, a brand-spankin' new production of the rock musical is set to hit Perth, Geelong, Wyong, Wollongong, Sydney and the Gold Coast in August, September and October.

Four-time Logie winner Hugh Sheridan and pop star turned musical theatre queen Paulini will step into the lead roles in this new production.

Featuring its Grammy Award-winning score, songs such as Aquarius, Good Morning Starshine, Hair, I Got Life and Let The Sun Shine In will have you singing and swinging along.

Producer David M. Hawkins said:

“There are a handful of commercial musicals that have truly changed the theatrical landscape and brought new people to the theatre.

“HAIR, with its rock score and social impact, certainly fits the bill. I think it is important this show is staged now; HAIR is a great reminder of how far we have come in many ways and also how much we still have to do.

“It's frightening how relevant some themes still are 50 years on, so let the sun shine in.”

Hair will kick off at His Majesty’s Theatre in Perth on August 22 and will tour to Geelong Performing Arts Centre from September 4, The Art House, Wyong from September 19, Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, Wollongong from September 25, Sydney Opera House from October 3 and Home of the Arts, Gold Coast from October 11.
