By Isabella Bull January 9, 2020

Fiddler On The Roof will be brought to life at the Sydney Opera House from 3 September 2020... but in a new turn of events, its entirely in Tevye’s home language, Yiddish.

The critically acclaimed musical premieres in Australia after a sold-out season in New York, and it's like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

The New York Times says the production “strikes a deep emotional chord and offers a kind of authenticity no other American Fiddler ever has”.

Fiddler On The Roof follows the heart-warming journey of a family whose traditions are turned upside down, as the modern world starts to affect life in their idyllic village. This classic tale is a celebration of life, love, family and ultimately a story of hope.

And if you don’t speak Yiddish, don’t worry - Fiddler On The Roof is performed entirely with English subtitles.

The musical has captured the hearts and imaginations of audiences around the world for over 55 years with its raw humour, warmth and honesty… not to mention its incredible soundtrack, with hits like Tradition, Matchmaker, Sunrise Sunset and If I Were A Rich Man.

Don’t miss this beautiful story coming to life on stage, in a new, unique, authentic language version of the much-loved musical theatre classic. The little town of Anatevka will bustle like you’ve never heard it before.
