Your beloved avocados are actually really dangerous

It turns out 'Avocado Hand' is something we all need to worry about now!

Anyone here who loves avocados as much as us? OK, well we're sorry to break this to you, but the fruit you love so much is actually really dangerous. An injury becoming more and more common across the world is known as 'Avocado Hand' and it occurs when the knife slips while preparing an avocado, resulting in a deep cut in your hand.

It's super painful and pretty scary because there are tendons in your hand that would probably require surgery and rehab in order to repair! Oh. My. God.

According to The Times, Simon Eccles who's the secretary of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons and former president of the plastic surgery section of the Royal Society of Medicine explained:

“People do not anticipate that the avocados they buy can be very ripe and there is minimal understanding of how to handle them.”

“We don’t want to put people off the fruit but I think warning labels are an effective way of dealing with this. It needs to be recognizable. Perhaps we could have a cartoon picture of an avocado with a knife, and a big red cross going through it?”

Surely we don't actually need warning labels! How about cutting the avocado crosswise, this way you can just squeeze the avo and the stone will just pop right out. This would leave less chance to be cut by the knife too.
